Encina o terebinto, árbol grande asociado a sitios sagrados y usado frecuentemente en topónimos bíblicos.
Sustantivo que designa un árbol grande y prominente, ya sea una encina o un terebinto, frecuentemente vinculado a lugares sagrados, santuarios y encuentros divinos en los relatos patriarcales. La «encina de Moré» en Siquem (Gn 12:6) fue el lugar donde Abram recibió por primera vez la promesa de Dios en Canaán, y las «encinas de Mamre» (Gn 13:18; 14:13; 18:1) se convirtieron en la morada prolongada de Abraham y en el escenario de la visitación angélica.
