1. dyed red, reddened — Pu'al passive participle sense: skins or materials that have been dyed or made red through an external process. Used exclusively in the Tabernacle construction narratives of Exodus (25:5; 26:14; 35:7,23; 36:19; 39:34) to describe ram skins dyed red as coverings. Also includes the Pu'al participle in Nahum 2:3 for shields or garments reddened in battle. The multilingual glosses consistently indicate a resultative state of redness applied to an object (German gefaerbt-rot, Spanish enrojecidas/teñidas de rojo, Korean bulge muldeul-in). 7×

2. be red, become red — Active/stative sense across Qal, Hif'il, and Hitpa'el stems: to be or become red in color as an inherent quality or natural process. The Qal perfect in Lamentations 4:7 describes the ruddy complexion of the Nazirites. The Hif'il imperfect in Isaiah 1:18 describes sins that are deep red (crimson). The Hitpa'el in Proverbs 23:31 describes wine becoming/showing red in the cup. Unlike the Pu'al sense, this denotes a state of redness rather than an external dyeing process (Arabic ihmarra, Spanish eran rojos/se enrojece, Korean bulgeojineun). 3×
