1. kind, benevolent, gracious — Describing a person or God as kind, benevolent, or gracious in disposition toward others, emphasizing moral goodness expressed through generous and gentle treatment. Used of God's kindness toward the ungrateful (Luke 6:35), mutual Christian kindness (Eph 4:32), and the abstract quality of God's kindness (Rom 2:4).
