1. need, necessity, lack — A state of requiring something that is lacking, or the thing that is required; used of spiritual needs (Matt 9:12 'those who are well have no need of a physician'), practical necessities (Acts 2:45, 4:35, 20:34 providing for material needs), the need for teaching (Heb 5:12 'you have need of someone to teach you'), divine self-sufficiency (Acts 17:25 'not as though he needed anything'), and the absence of need in the new creation (Rev 21:23, 22:5 'no need of sun').
