Chuza (or Chouzas) was the steward or household manager of Herod Antipas, the tetrarch of Galilee who ruled during Jesus's ministry. Luke mentions him as the husband of Joanna, one of the women who supported Jesus's ministry from their own means and who was among those who discovered the empty tomb. That the wife of Herod's steward became a follower of Jesus and financial supporter of his movement is remarkable, suggesting that the gospel reached even into Herod's household and that Chuza either supported or at least tolerated his wife's allegiance to the Galilean prophet whom Herod himself had mixed feelings about.
