Chorazin, a town in Galilee near Capernaum
Χοραζίν (Chorazin) was a town in Galilee, located a few miles north of Capernaum on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Though Jesus must have ministered extensively there (performing 'mighty works' according to Matthew 11:21), the Gospels record no specific events in Chorazin. The town appears only in Jesus' pronouncement of woe. Both Matthew 11:21 and Luke 10:13 record Jesus' judgment: 'Woe to you, Chorazin!... For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago'—condemning the town for rejecting Jesus despite witnessing his powerful works.
