Haran, a city in northwestern Mesopotamia
Χαρράν (Hebrew חָרָן, Haran) was an important ancient city in northwestern Mesopotamia, located on the Balikh River in what is now southern Turkey. It figures prominently in the patriarchal narratives as the place where Abraham's family settled after leaving Ur and where Abraham lived before God called him to Canaan. Acts 7:2 mentions Haran as the place where God appeared to Abraham 'before he lived in Haran,' while Acts 7:4 describes Abraham leaving Haran for Canaan after his father Terah died. The city remained significant in biblical history—Jacob fled there to escape Esau and worked for Laban, finding his wives Rachel and Leah.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 Both New Testament occurrences appear in Stephen's speech recounting Abraham's call and migration. Haran represents the midpoint in Abraham's journey from Ur to Canaan—a place of transition and divine encounter. The multilingual glosses preserve the Greek transliteration. For Stephen's Jewish audience, Haran would evoke the beginnings of their national story, when God called Abraham to leave security and journey toward promise.
