Adv  |  2× en 1 sentido
perhaps, possibly, maybe, quickly
This adverb has two meanings: perhaps (expressing possibility) or quickly (expressing swiftness). Romans 5:7 suggests that perhaps for a good person someone might dare to die. Philemon 15 speculates that perhaps Onesimus was separated from Philemon so he might have him back forever. In both cases, Paul uses this to soften assertions with appropriate tentativeness.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 Primarily means 'perhaps' or 'possibly,' expressing contingency or probability rather than certainty, though it can also mean 'quickly' in some contexts. The multilingual glosses (Spanish 'quizás,' French 'peut-être,' German 'vielleicht') support the 'perhaps' meaning for both NT uses. Paul employs this to express measured possibility: perhaps someone might die for a good person (Rom 5:7), and perhaps divine providence orchestrated Onesimus's separation and return (Phlm 15), showing appropriate epistemic humility about human motivations and divine purposes.
