Inteligente, entendido, perspicaz; que posee discernimiento y buen juicio.
Derivado de συνίημι («comprender, juntar mentalmente»), συνετός describe a alguien capaz de sintetizar información para alcanzar entendimiento. Jesús da gracias al Padre por haber escondido estas cosas de «los sabios y entendidos» (Mt 11:25; Lc 10:21), usando el término casi irónicamente para aquellos cuya destreza intelectual se convierte en obstáculo. En Hechos 13:7, Sergio Paulo es llamado «hombre prudente», un elogio directo. Pablo cita el juicio de Isaías de que Dios «destruirá la inteligencia de los inteligentes» (1 Co 1:19), subrayando la insuficiencia de la sabiduría meramente humana.
