V-PSA-1P  |  5× in 1 sense
To walk in line, conduct oneself according to a standard or rule; to follow an orderly course of life.
Derived from the idea of soldiers standing in rank, this verb captures the image of walking in an orderly line or keeping step with a guiding principle. In the New Testament it consistently describes conforming one's conduct to a spiritual standard, whether the rule of faith (Gal 6:16) or the Spirit's leading (Gal 5:25). Paul uses it to urge believers to 'keep in step' with what they have already attained (Phil 3:16). The Spanish 'andar ordenadamente' beautifully captures this sense of disciplined, purposeful walking.

Senses
1. sense 1 To walk in conformity with a rule, standard, or example — conducting one's life in an orderly manner aligned with a guiding principle. From its military origins of standing in rank, the NT usage is entirely metaphorical: Paul urges walking by the Spirit (Gal 5:25), following Abraham's faith-steps (Rom 4:12), and holding to the same rule (Phil 3:16). The multilingual evidence is uniform — English 'walk,' Spanish 'andar/caminar,' French 'marcher' — all pointing to a single ethical-conduct sense.
