porne -- prostitute, harlot; used literally and figuratively of spiritual idolatry in Revelation
The noun porne ('prostitute, harlot') denotes a woman who engages in sexual activity for payment. In the New Testament it operates on two registers. Literally, it appears in Jesus' startling declaration that 'tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you' (Matt 21:31-32) and in Paul's warning against union with prostitutes (1 Cor 6:15-16). The epistle to the Hebrews recalls Rahab the prostitute as a model of faith (Heb 11:31; cf. James 2:25). Figuratively, Revelation deploys it as 'the great prostitute' (Rev 17:1, 5, 15-16; 19:2), a symbol of idolatrous imperial power seducing the nations. Spanish ramera, French prostituee, and German Hure track both registers without lexical distinction.

Senses
1. prostitute / harlot A woman who practices prostitution, literally (Matt 21:31; 1 Cor 6:15-16; Heb 11:31 of Rahab) and figuratively of idolatrous empire in Revelation's 'great prostitute' (Rev 17:1, 5). Spanish ramera, French prostituee, and German Hure span both literal and metaphorical registers, confirming one lexeme across all twelve occurrences. 12×
