To pass by physically, walking past a place; metaphorically, to pass away or cease to exist.
Paragō paints two vivid pictures: movement through space and movement through time toward ending. In the Gospels, Jesus 'passes by' — walking along the Sea of Galilee and spotting his future disciples (Matt 9:9, Mark 1:16, Mark 2:14), a simple but momentous act of physical transit. In the Johannine and Pauline letters, however, the word turns metaphorical and even cosmic: 'the form of this world is passing away' (1 Cor 7:31), and 'the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining' (1 John 2:8). Spanish distinguishes these neatly — pasaba/pasando for physical movement, pasa for metaphorical transience.

The word conveys ordinary human locomotion that, in the Gospel narratives, becomes the occasion for extraordinary encounters. 2. to pass away (metaphorical/temporal) — To pass away, to cease to exist — a metaphorical extension describing the transience of the present world order. Paul declares 'the form of this world is passing away' (1 Cor 7:31), and John writes that 'the darkness is passing away' as the true light shines (1 John 2:8) and 'the world and its desires are passing away' (1 John 2:17). The shift from physical movement to cosmic impermanence is dramatic.
