Habitar, morar, residir; usado tanto de la habitación física como de la morada espiritual del pecado o del Espíritu Santo.
Derivado de οἶκος (casa), este verbo significa habitar o residir en un lugar. Aunque su sentido básico es residencial, Pablo lo transforma en Romanos 7-8 en una poderosa metáfora teológica. El pecado «habita en» la carne del creyente (Ro 7:17, 18, 20), pero el Espíritu de Dios también «habita en» quienes pertenecen a Cristo (Ro 8:9, 11). Esta tensión entre el pecado que mora en nosotros y el Espíritu que mora en nosotros es central en la antropología paulina. El español «habitar» deriva del latín habitare, conservando la misma metáfora doméstica.

El sentido literal de habitación física subyace al término, pero en el NT destaca el uso metafórico paulino para la morada espiritual.
