Sustantivo derivado de οἶκος (casa) que designa a un siervo perteneciente a un hogar, con un matiz mas intimo que el generico δοῦλος (esclavo). En Mateo 24:45 (el siervo fiel y prudente puesto sobre la casa) y Lucas 16:13 (ningun siervo puede servir a dos senores), el termino evoca la relacion cercana y de confianza entre amo y sirviente domestico. Hechos 10:7 describe a los piadosos siervos domesticos de Cornelio, y 1 Pedro 2:18 se dirige directamente a estos esclavos del hogar, exhortandolos a la sumision.
