Nombre hebreo indeclinable que significa 'Dios ha dado' (de natan + El), llevado por el discípulo que Felipe trajo a Jesús en Juan 1:45-49. El escepticismo inicial de Natanael ('¿De Nazaret puede salir algo bueno?') se transforma en una confesión dramática cuando Jesús revela un conocimiento sobrenatural de él bajo la higuera. Reaparece en Juan 21:2 en la escena de pesca posterior a la resurrección, identificado como originario de Caná de Galilea.
