Animal domestico, bestia de carga; criatura poseida para transporte, labor o ganado
De la misma raiz que κτάομαι ('adquirir'), κτῆνος significaba originalmente 'propiedad' en forma de ganado: rebanos y manadas. Para la epoca del NT se habia ampliado para incluir cualquier animal domestico, en particular bestias de montura o transporte. El buen samaritano coloca al herido sobre su propio κτῆνος (Lc 10:34), y a Pablo le proporcionan cabalgaduras (κτήνη) para su traslado seguro ante Felix (Hch 23:24). En 1 Co 15:39 Pablo lo emplea en sentido biologico mas amplio, distinguiendo la carne de los κτήνη de la de humanos, aves y peces.
