1. heart (inner self, mind, will) — The noun καρδία denoting the heart as the seat of thought, emotion, will, and moral/spiritual life — the inner person in its entirety. Used extensively throughout the NT for the center of human consciousness, intention, and relationship with God (Matt 5:8, 6:21, 12:34, 15:18-19; Mark 7:21; Luke 6:45; John 14:1; Acts 2:37; Rom 2:29, 10:9-10; 2 Cor 4:6; Eph 1:18; Heb 4:12; Rev 2:23). All three clusters represent the same lexical meaning across all inflectional forms (singular/plural, all cases): eng 'heart(s)/in heart(s)', spa 'corazón/corazones', hin हृदय/हृदयों, arb قَلْبِ/قُلُوبِ, kor 마음/마음들, swa 'moyo/mioyo'.
