Regla, norma, medida; un principio o estandar por el cual se evalua algo, o una esfera definida de actividad.
Originalmente una vara recta o regla de medir usada por constructores, este sustantivo paso a significar una 'regla' o 'estandar' de medicion. Pablo lo emplea en 2 Corintios 10:13-16 para definir su 'esfera' o 'campo' de ministerio asignado por Dios, insistiendo en que no se gloria mas alla de la medida que le fue otorgada. En Ga 6:16 designa la 'regla' o principio rector conforme al cual deben caminar los creyentes. Fil 3:16 llama igualmente a vivir segun el mismo 'estandar'. El espanol 'regla' refleja directamente el latin regula, del cual deriva tambien el ingles rule.

Pablo la emplea para delimitar los confines de su territorio apostolico, la 'medida' que Dios le asigno (2 Co 10:13, 15-16), y como principio rector para la vida cristiana (Ga 6:16; Fil 3:16). Su etimologia de la regla del carpintero subyace a su fuerza metaforica.
