Senses
1. incense, aromatic offering — Incense, an aromatic substance burned as a religious offering, producing fragrant smoke that rises before God. Used in the NT for the incense offerings in the Temple (Luke 1:10-11, Zechariah's priestly duty) and the incense in heavenly worship (Rev 5:8, 8:3-4 where incense represents the prayers of the saints). The two clusters differ only in case: the main cluster (5x) has various cases including nominative and genitive singular, while the minor cluster (1x) is genitive plural 'of incenses'. Multilingual evidence confirms one sense: spa 'incienso / de inciensos', hin 'dhup / dhupon se', arb 'al-bakhur / bakhur', kor 'bunhyang / hyang-deul-ui', swa 'ubani/uvumba'. No semantic distinction exists. 6×
