1. year — A unit of time measuring one complete annual cycle, used in the NT for ages of persons (Luke 2:42 'when he was twelve years old'), durations of events (Gal 1:18 'after three years'), and historical periods (Heb 3:17 'forty years'). Multilingual evidence is perfectly uniform: eng 'years/year', spa 'anos/ano', hin 'varsh/varshon', arb 'sana/sanawat', kor 'hae/nyeon', swa 'miaka/mwaka'. The three clusters differ only in grammatical number (plural vs. singular) and case (accusative, genitive, dative, nominative), representing no semantic distinction whatsoever. 49×
