still, yet (temporal continuity); no longer, not anymore (negated continuity)
Senses
1. still, yet (temporal continuity) — Temporal adverb indicating that a state or action continues up to the present moment: 'still, yet.' Consistently rendered Ger. 'noch,' Fr. 'encore,' Heb. 'עוֹד,' Kor. '아직,' Hin. 'अभी.' Used of ongoing situations (Matt 12:46 'while he was still speaking,' Matt 17:5 'still speaking,' Mark 5:35 'while he was still speaking') and conditions persisting to the time of reference (Luke 1:15 'even from his mother's womb,' Luke 8:49, Luke 14:22). This is the core temporal-continuative sense of ἔτι throughout the NT. 65×

2. no longer, not anymore (negated continuity) — Temporal adverb in negated or cessative contexts meaning 'no longer, not anymore, no more.' Distinguished from the positive-continuative sense by negation particles (οὐκέτι, μηκέτι) or contexts of cessation. Kor. shifts to '더이상' or '다시,' Hin. to 'फिर' or 'और,' Spa. consistently 'más.' Found prominently in Revelation's judgment oracles (Rev 18:21-22 'no longer found,' Rev 7:16 'no more hunger') and Hebrews quotations (Heb 8:12, 10:2, 10:17 'remember sins no more'). Also in eschatological negation (Matt 5:13 'no longer good for anything,' Luke 16:2, 20:36). 28×
