Glory, splendor, radiant majesty; the visible manifestation of divine excellence and honor
In classical Greek, doxa meant merely 'opinion' or 'reputation,' but the Septuagint transformed it into the standard rendering of Hebrew kavod — the weighty, luminous presence of God. By the New Testament, doxa carries the full freight of divine radiance: the shekinah glory that filled the temple, the splendor revealed at the Transfiguration (Matt 17:2), and the eternal magnificence to which believers are destined (Rom 8:18).
