Δαυείδ (tambien escrito Δαβίδ en el Texto Recibido) es la forma griega indeclinable del hebreo David, el rey paradigmatico de Israel. El nombre satura el Nuevo Testamento en multiples registros: como figura historica en genealogias (Mt 1:6, 17), como autor de los Salmos citados por Jesus y los apostoles (Mc 12:36; Hch 2:25; Heb 4:7), y sobre todo como el ancestro cuyo trono y linaje definen la expectativa mesianica. El titulo 'Hijo de David' se convierte en una designacion cristologica primordial (Mt 1:1; 9:27; 20:30-31), mientras que 'la llave de David' (Ap 3:7) y 'la raiz de David' (Ap 5:5; 22:16) extienden el nombre hacia la imagineria apocaliptica.
