Este adjetivo compuesto describe aquello que no ha sido hecho por manos humanas. En el juicio de Jesús, falsos testigos afirmaron que él había dicho que destruiría el templo «hecho con manos» y edificaría otro «no hecho con manos» en tres días (Mr 14:58). Pablo contrasta las tiendas terrenales con el edificio de Dios, eterno en los cielos, «no hecho de manos» (2 Co 5:1). Colosenses 2:11 habla de una circuncisión «no hecha con manos», el despojamiento espiritual de la carne en Cristo. El término distingue la obra humana de la realidad divina o espiritual.
