Ἀρτεμᾶς G0734
Artemas (a Christian associate of Paul)
This is a shortened form of the Greek name Artemidoros or Artemidorus, meaning 'gift of Artemis.' Paul mentions Artemas in his letter to Titus as someone he plans to send to Crete, allowing Titus to leave and join Paul for the winter. The reference suggests Artemas was a trusted co-worker capable of stepping into Titus's leadership role in the Cretan churches. Nothing else is known about him from Scripture.
Sentidos
1. sense 1 — The personal name Artemas, identifying one of Paul's co-workers. Titus 3:12 instructs: 'When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis.' Spanish 'a Artemas,' French preserves the Greek accusative, German 'Artemas,' English 'Artemas.' Paul's plan to send either Artemas or Tychicus as Titus's replacement indicates both were trusted associates capable of temporary leadership in Crete while Titus traveled to join Paul for winter ministry. The name's connection to the goddess Artemis suggests possible pagan origins before conversion. 1×
