wind — a natural movement of air, from gentle breeze to violent storm; also used figuratively of instability
Anemos denotes wind in all its meteorological force across 31 New Testament occurrences. Its most dramatic appearances cluster in the storm narratives: Jesus rebukes the wind on the Sea of Galilee and it obeys him (Matt 8:26-27; Mark 4:39), leaving the disciples astonished that 'even the winds and the sea obey him.' In the parable of the two builders, the wind batters both houses alike (Matt 7:25, 27), testing the foundation. James compares the doubter to a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind (Jas 1:6), and Paul warns against being 'carried about by every wind of doctrine' (Eph 4:14), giving the word a figurative valence of fickleness. In Revelation, four angels restrain the four winds of the earth (Rev 7:1). Spanish 'viento,' French 'vent,' and German 'Wind' uniformly render the single meteorological sense.

Senses
1. wind A natural movement of air, ranging from a breeze to a violent gale. Dominates the Synoptic storm-stilling narratives where Jesus commands the wind and it obeys (Matt 8:26; Mark 4:39; Luke 8:24). Used figuratively of doctrinal instability (Eph 4:14) and of the doubter tossed like a wave (Jas 1:6). In Revelation 7:1, four angels hold back the four winds of the earth as an apocalyptic image of cosmic restraint. 31×
