1. withdraw / depart — To go away from a place, to withdraw or retreat, often implying deliberate removal from danger or a situation. Used frequently in Matthew for Jesus or others departing: the Magi 'departed' (ἀνεχώρησαν) by another road (Matt 2:12); Joseph 'withdrew' (ἀνεχώρησεν) to Egypt (Matt 2:14) and later to Galilee (Matt 2:22); Jesus 'withdrew' after hearing of John's arrest (Matt 4:12, 12:15, 14:13, 15:21); Judas 'departed' after returning the silver (Matt 27:5); Jesus 'withdrew' to the sea in Mark 3:7 and to the mountain in John 6:15; Paul's audience 'withdrew' in Acts 23:19, 26:31.
