To remind someone of something (active) or to recall to one's own mind, remember (middle/passive); used of stirring memory for exhortation or recollection.
A verb of memory that operates in two directions depending on voice. In the active, it means to bring something to another person's attention — as when Paul sends Timothy to remind the Corinthians of his ways in Christ (1 Cor 4:17). In the middle-passive, it turns inward: to call something back to one's own mind, to remember. Peter 'remembered' Jesus's prediction at the cock-crow (Mark 14:72), and Hebrews 10:32 exhorts believers to remember their earlier perseverance under suffering. The Spanish and German glosses (recordar, erinnern) consistently capture both directions, while French rappeler elegantly covers both 'remind' and 'recall.'
2. remind (active) — The active causative sense: to bring something to another person's attention, to remind. In 1 Corinthians 4:17 Paul dispatches Timothy so he 'will remind' the church of Paul's teaching, and in 2 Timothy 1:6 Paul reminds Timothy to fan into flame the gift of God.
