Infructuoso, estéril; que no produce resultado útil, ya sea literalmente de plantas o figuradamente de personas y obras.
Adjetivo que significa 'sin fruto': estéril, improductivo, infructuoso. Combina el prefijo privativo ἀ- con καρπός (fruto) para describir cualquier cosa que no produce resultados. Jesús lo usa en la parábola del Sembrador, donde las distracciones espinosas hacen que la palabra quede 'sin fruto' (Mt 13:22; Mr 4:19). Pablo lo aplica a la oración ininteligible donde la mente queda 'sin fruto' (1 Co 14:14) y a 'las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas' (Ef 5:11).
