Sustantivo que expresa tanto la condición de cautividad como el conjunto de los cautivos. Efesios 4:8 cita el Salmo 68: Cristo «llevó cautiva la cautividad», ya sea sometiendo a poderes hostiles o liberando a quienes estaban presos. Apocalipsis 13:10 advierte que quien destina a otros a cautividad irá él mismo a cautividad, expresando la justicia retributiva divina. El término evoca los exilios históricos de Israel y sus derrotas militares.

1. Cautividad o cautivos — Designa el estado o la realidad colectiva de ser llevado prisionero. En Efesios, Cristo triunfa sobre potencias hostiles capturando la cautividad misma, posiblemente liberando a los cautivos.
