† [נָאַם] vb. denom. utter a prophecy, speak as prophet;— Qal Impf. 3 mpl. וַיִּנְאֲמוּ נְאֻם Je 23:31 and they uttered (in the prophetic manner), it as an utterance (of י׳); they used the prophetic formula (cf. אֹמְרִים נְאֻם י׳ Ez 13:6, 7).
נבא (√ of foll.; v. BH id., but especially BewerAm. J. Sem. Lang., Jan. 1902 who cp. Assyrian nabû, tear away, lead forcibly, hence proph. as (fig.) carried away by divine frenzy, ecstasy, cf. 1 S 10:6, 10; 19:20, 24).
