A noun likely derived by reduplication from the root qrr or qur, qarqa' denotes the floor or ground-level surface of a structure. It appears most prominently in the description of Solomon's temple, where the floor is overlaid with gold (1 Kgs 6:15, 16, 30), and in the tabernacle ritual of Numbers 5:17, where dust is taken from the floor.
