1. cult prostitute (male) — A male cult prostitute or temple functionary engaged in ritual sexual practices, consistently condemned in Deuteronomic law (Dt 23:18; 1Ki 14:24; 15:12; 22:47; 2Ki 23:7). All three clusters are grammatical variants: singular with/without article, plural with article, and plural with preposition. English renders 'cult prostitute(s),' Spanish 'prostituto(s) sagrado(s)/sodomita,' Arabic 'مُأَنَّثٌ/الْمُأَنَّثِينَ,' Korean '신전 남창/남색하는 자,' Swahili 'wanaume wa hekaluni/makahaba wa hekaluni,' and Hindi 'पुरुष वेश्या.'
