Kingdom, realm; also the abstract exercise of kingship, royal sovereignty, or dominion.
Mamlakhah denotes both the concrete territory over which a king rules and the abstract authority of royal office. The vast majority of its 117 occurrences refer to specific kingdoms or realms -- from Nimrod's founding domain in Genesis 10:10 to the divided monarchies of Israel and Judah. Translations converge remarkably: English 'kingdom,' Spanish 'reino,' French 'royaume,' German 'Konigreich.' A small but important cluster, especially in Chronicles and Jeremiah, shifts toward the abstract sense of kingship or royal dominion -- the right and power to reign rather than the land itself. Exodus 19:6's 'kingdom of priests' beautifully straddles both: Israel as God's realm and as a people exercising priestly sovereignty.

Senses
1. kingdom, realm A political territory, state, or nation under royal rule (112x) -- the concrete domain over which a king exercises authority. This covers everything from Sihon's realm (Deut 3:4, 10, 13) to the great kingdoms of the earth (Ps 46:6; Isa 14:16). All major translation languages use concrete territorial terms: Spanish 'el reino,' French 'le royaume,' German 'das Konigreich.' The plural 'mamlakhot' appears in sweeping panoramas of world powers (Deut 28:25; 2 Chr 32:15), often paralleled with 'goy' (nation) and 'am' (people). 112×

2. kingship, royal dominion The abstract exercise of royal authority, sovereignty, or reign (5x) -- focusing on the office and function of ruling rather than territory. Second Chronicles clusters several instances: Jehoram's consolidation of 'the kingship' (2 Chr 21:4), Ahaziah having none strong enough to retain 'the kingdom' as royal power (2 Chr 22:9), and Abijah's claim that Judah holds legitimate 'kingship' (2 Chr 13:8). Spanish captures this with 'reinado' alongside the more territorial 'reino,' and Jeremiah 27:1 and 28:1 use it for the beginning of a reign rather than a geographic boundary.
