touch (dubious lemma; Judges 16:26 Ketiv, likely textual error for מָשַׁשׁ)
This verb appears only in Judges 16:26 where Samson asks to 'feel' the pillars he will pull down. However, most scholars regard it as a textual error rather than a genuine word. The Ketiv reads וְהֵימִשֵׁנִי while the Qere offers וַהֲמִישֵׁנִי. BDB suggests the intended root is מָשַׁשׁ ('to feel, grope'), a much more common verb appropriate to Samson's blindness. This represents the kind of marginal lexical entry that exists only to document and explain a problematic manuscript reading.
