Horite (gentilic)
1. Horite (gentilic) Gentilic noun חֹרִי (Horite), referring to the pre-Edomite inhabitants of the hill country of Seir (Gen 14:6; 36:20–30; Deut 2:12, 22). Always appears with the article (הַחֹרִי), in both singular ('the Horite') and plural ('the Horites') forms. The two clusters represent only a number distinction (singular ms vs. plural mp), not a semantic difference — both denote members of the same ethnic group. Multilingual evidence is consistent: eng 'the Horite/Horites', spa 'el horeo/los horeos', arb الحُورِيِّين, kor 호리 사람/호리인들, swa 'Mhorini/Wahori.'
