Prep-b | N-msc  |  5× in 1 sense
strength, might; used of divine power (God's strong hand) and of national military force
This noun denotes strength or might and appears in two distinct spheres. Three times in Exodus (13:3, 14, 16) it describes God's 'strength of hand' that brought Israel out of Egypt -- a formulaic expression anchoring Israelite memory of the Exodus. In Amos 6:13 and Haggai 2:22, it refers to human military strength -- Israel's misplaced boasting and the overthrow of kingdoms' war-chariots. French 'force' and German 'Starke' consistently convey raw power, while Spanish 'fuerza' covers both the divine and military applications.

Senses
1. sense 1 Strength or might, especially as an attribute of God's delivering power. The Exodus formula 'by strength of hand' (Exod 13:3, 14, 16) commemorates divine intervention. French 'force' and Spanish 'fuerza de' uniformly capture this sense of overwhelming might. In Amos 6:13 and Hag 2:22, the same word shifts to national or military strength, with Israel boasting in its own power or God overthrowing the strength of foreign kingdoms.
