Conj-w  |  6× in 1 sense
Footstool; always in construct with 'feet,' used figuratively of the earth, the ark, or the temple as God's footrest.
A masculine noun meaning footstool, always appearing in the phrase hadom raglayim (footstool of the feet). Never used literally of furniture, it serves as a powerful theological metaphor. In Isaiah 66:1 heaven is God's throne and the earth his footstool; in Lamentations 2:1 the sanctuary is called the footstool of his feet, cast down in judgment. The ark of the covenant is described as God's footstool in 1 Chronicles 28:2, and Psalm 110:1 applies the image to the subjugation of the Messianic king's enemies. Spanish 'estrado' preserves the regal connotation of a raised platform beneath a sovereign's feet.

Senses
1. footstool Footstool, always in the construct phrase 'footstool of [his/your] feet.' Theologically, it describes the earth as God's footrest (Isa 66:1), the temple or ark as the place where God's presence rests (Lam 2:1; 1 Chr 28:2; Ps 99:5; 132:7), and the conquered enemies placed beneath the Messianic king's feet (Ps 110:1). Spanish 'estrado de' and French 'marche-pied' both convey the image of a low platform under royal authority, highlighting sovereignty rather than mere furniture.
