This place name appears in 2 Samuel 8:8, in the account of David's victory over Hadadezer of Zobah. David took bronze from 'Betah and from Berothai' (u-mi-Berotai), cities that belonged to Hadadezer. BDB suggests this may be the same location as Berotah in Ezekiel 47:16, though the spellings differ slightly. The parallel passage in 1 Chronicles 18:8 calls it 'Cun.' These were significant bronze-producing cities whose wealth David seized for temple construction.
