1. endurance, patient perseverance — The Greek noun ὑπομονή denoting steadfast endurance, patient perseverance, or the capacity to remain under trial without yielding. All 32 NT occurrences express this single abstract quality, whether as a virtue to cultivate (Rom 5:3-4, Jas 1:3-4), a characteristic of the saints (Rev 13:10, 14:12), or a quality produced by testing (Rom 5:3). S78221 (30x, all four cases) and S78222 (2x, dative) differ only in that the latter cluster contains minor orthographic variation in Hindi ('धेएरज' vs 'धीरज'). Translations are identical: Spanish 'perseverancia/paciencia,' Arabic 'صبر,' Hindi 'धीरज/धैर्य,' Korean '인내,' Swahili 'uvumilivu/saburi.' No semantic distinction exists. 32×
