Abundance, surplus, overflow; what remains over and above, whether of words from the heart or of material provisions.
A noun meaning surplus, abundance, or overflow — that which exceeds what is needed or expected. Jesus uses it memorably in Matt 12:34 and Luke 6:45: 'out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks,' where the overflow metaphor connects inner character to outward speech.
