Miletus, an ancient Greek city on the western coast of Asia Minor
Miletus was a major port city in Caria, on the Aegean coast of what is now Turkey. Paul stopped there on his final journey to Jerusalem, summoning the Ephesian elders for a poignant farewell address (Acts 20:15, 17). Later, he left Trophimus sick there (2 Tim 4:20). The city had a rich history as a center of Greek philosophy and trade. The name appears consistently transliterated across languages: 'Milētos,' 'Milet,' reflecting the proper noun status.
