1. to be patient, to have long-suffering To exercise patience, forbearance, or long-suffering toward persons or in difficult circumstances; the standard NT verb for patient endurance. In Matt 18:26,29 the servant begs his master to be patient with him (arb iṣbir, heb הַאֲרֵךְ־אַפַּיִם, hin dhairay rakh, kor chameusoeo, spa ten paciencia). In 1 Cor 13:4 love is patient (arb taṣbiru, heb מַאֲרִיכָה–אַפַּיִם, kor orae chamgo, spa es paciente). In Luke 18:7 God is patient toward his elect (hin dhīraj dhartā hai).
