λύδδα G3069
Lydda; a town in Judea located on the coastal plain between Joppa and Jerusalem
Lydda (modern Lod in Israel) was a significant town on the road between Jerusalem and the Mediterranean coast, about 11 miles southeast of Joppa. It had a substantial Jewish population in the first century. Acts 9 recounts Peter's visit there during his itinerant ministry. He found Aeneas, a paralytic bedridden for eight years, healed him in Jesus' name, and as a result 'all the residents of Lydda and Sharon turned to the Lord' (Acts 9:32-35). From Lydda, Peter was summoned to nearby Joppa when Dorcas died (9:38). The town served as a strategic center for early Christian expansion in coastal Judea.

There he healed Aeneas, paralyzed eight years (9:33-34), resulting in widespread conversion: 'all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord' (9:35). From Lydda, disciples summoned Peter to Joppa when Tabitha died (9:38). The town appears as a key site in Peter's coastal Judean ministry. 3×
