1. change, exchange, transform — Greek verb allasso meaning to change, alter, or exchange one thing for another, used across active and passive voices in the NT. In the active: they 'exchanged' (ellaxan) the glory of God for images (Rom 1:23, arb abdalu, spa cambiaron, kor bakkueotneunira); Stephen was accused of saying Jesus would 'change' (allaxei) the customs of Moses (Acts 6:14, arb sayughayyiru, spa cambiara). Paul wished to 'change' (allaxai) his tone with the Galatians (Gal 4:20, eng 'to-change,' heb leshanot, spa cambiar). In the future passive: 'we shall be changed' at the resurrection (1 Cor 15:51-52, allagisometha, arb sanataghayaru, spa seremos-transformados, hin badal-jaenge, kor byeonhwadoel-geotinira); heaven and earth 'will be changed' like a garment (Heb 1:12, allagisontai, arb tataghayaru, spa seran-cambiados).
