N-AMS  |  6× in 1 sense
Shore, beach; a sandy or pebbly stretch of coastline used as a landing place or gathering area.
In the New Testament, aigialos refers to the strip of land where sea meets shore -- a place of transition and encounter. Jesus taught the crowds from a boat while they stood on the beach (Matt 13:2), and fishermen sorted their catch there (Matt 13:48). The risen Christ appeared on the shore of the Sea of Galilee (John 21:4). In Acts, believers knelt in prayer on the beach at Tyre (21:5), and the shipwrecked crew spotted an unknown bay with a beach on Malta (27:39-40).

Senses
1. shore, beach A sandy or pebbly stretch of coastline at the water's edge, serving as a place for landing boats, gathering, or fishing. All six NT occurrences designate the same physical feature. In the Gospels it is the setting for Jesus' parabolic teaching from a boat (Matt 13:2) and the post-resurrection appearance (John 21:4). In Acts it is both a place of communal prayer (21:5) and the target of a desperate shipwreck landing (27:39-40). Spanish 'playa/orilla' and German 'Ufer' both capture the shoreline sense, while French 'rivage' carries a slightly more literary register.
