I. שֶׁ֫לַח n.[m.] missile, weapon, sprout (late);—abs. שׁ׳ Jo 2:8 +, שָׁ֑לַח Ne 4:11 Jb 33:18, sf. שִׁלְחוֹ Ne 4:17; pl. שְׁלָחִים 2 Ch 23:10, etc.;— 1. missile, weapon, Ne 4:11 and v 17 (where הַמַּיִם corrupt; read probably בִּימִינוֹ or בְּיָדוֹ; v. Ryle Be-Ry Berthol), 2 Ch 23:10 (disting. from חֲנִית, מָגֵן); coll. 32:5 and עָבַר בַּשׁ׳ Jb 33:18; 36:12 (perish by or rush upon [and perish]), Jo 2:8 (v. בְּעַד). 2. sprout, shoot (cf. [שְׁלוּחָה], and √ ψ 80:12 Je 17:8), שְׁלָחַיִךְ פַּרְדֵּס Ct 4:13 (fig.; meaning? PerlesAnal. 63 proposes שְׁנֵי לְחָיַיִךְ thy two cheeks); + prob. Ez 31:5 (read בִּשְׁלָחָיו Co Toy al., or בְּשִׁלְחֵי [with v 6] Krae).

ὅπλον, τό, tool, implement, mostly in plural, like{ἔντεα},{τεύχεα}: (probably from ἕπω A): __I a ship's tackle, tackling, Refs 8th c.BC+; especially ropes, halyards, etc., δησάμενοι δ᾽ ἄρα ὅπλα Refs 8th c.BC+; in which sense Refs 8th c.BC+ twice uses the singular, rope, Refsany ropes, Refs 5th c.BC+ __II tools, strictly so called, in Refs 8th c.BC+ especially of smiths' tools, Refs 8th c.BC+; ὅπλον γεροντικόν staff, Refs 3rd c.BC+; δείπνων ὅπλον ἑτοιμότατον, of the wine-flask, Refs __III in plural, also, implements of war, arms and armour, Refs 8th c.BC+ of the arms of Achilles, Refs 5th c.BC+: rarely in singular, weapon, οὐδέ τι ἀρήϊον ὅπλον ἐκτέαται Refs 5th c.BC+; ποτὶ πονηρὸν οὐκ ἄχρηστον ὅπλον ἁ πονηρία [Refs 5th c.BC+; piece of armour, Refs 1st c.BC+ __III.2 the large shield, from which the men-at-arms took their name of ὁπλῖται (εἰκόνα γραπτὴν ἐν ὅπλῳ Refs 5th c.BC+: metaphorically, τῆς πενίας ὅπλον ἡ παρρησία Refs 4th c.BC+ __III.3 in plural, also, heavy arms, Refs 5th c.BC+; ὅπλων ἐπιστάτης, ={ὁπλίτης}, opposed to κώπης ἄναξ, Refs 5th c.BC+ __III.4 ὅπλα, ={ὁπλῖται}, men-at-arms, πολλῶν μεθ᾽ ὅπλων Refs 5th c.BC+ to have a muster of the men-at-arms, Refs 5th c.BC+; ὁ ἐπὶ τῶν ὅπλων στρατηγός, opposed to ὁ ἐπὶ τῆς διοικήσεως, Decrees cited in Refs 4th c.BC+; στρατηγεῖν ἐπὶ τὰ ὅ. † הֹ֫צֶן n.[m.] deriv. & meaning dub.; only Ez 23:24 וּבָאוּ עָלַיִךְ הֹצֶן רֶכֶב וְגַלְגַּל; txt. prob. in error: 𝔊 מִצָּפוֹן so Co (cf. 26:7); 𝔖 𝔗 with arms; Hi הָצֵן, Inf. Hiph. of √ צנן, with rattling; Ew חֹצֶן (so Codd.) with shoulder as place of carrying weapon; Bö Sm הֲמוֹן multitude; DlBaer’s Ezech. xi. gains like sense without emend. by comparing Assyrian êṣin collect, gather, Flood Tabl.ii, 25, ff., but this very dubious.
