† [רָעַף] vb. trickle, drip, synon. of נזל, II. ערף (cf. Arabic رَعَفَ flow (of blood), bleed (of the nose));— Qal Impf. 3 mpl. יִרְעֲפוּ, of clouds Jb 36:28 (c. עֲלֵי pers.; ‖ יִזְּלוּ), c. acc. mat. טַל Pr 3:20; fig. מַעְגָּלֶיךָ יִרְעֲפוּן דָּ֑שֶׁן ψ 65:12 (i.e. fertilizing rain); subj. of moistened ground, נְאוֹת מִדְבָּר, v 13. Hiph. Imv. mpl. הַרְעִיפוּ Is 45:8 trickle, O heavens, from above (fig.: ‖ יִזְּלוּ צֶדֶק).

† [דָּלַף] vb. drop, drip (WisdLt.) (NH id. (זלף more common), דֶּלֶף trough, etc., Aramaic דְּלַף, ܕܠܰܦ, drip)— Qal Pf. 3 fs. אֶל־אֱלוֹהַּ דָּֽלְפָה עֵינִי Jb 16:20 i.e. weeps (drops in tears); דָּֽלְפָה נַפְשִׁי מִתּוּגָה ψ 119:28 i.e. weeps (Itself away Che cf. De); Impf. בְּשִׁפְלוּת יָדַיִם יִדְלֹף הַבָּֽיִת׃ Ec 10:18 the house drips, i.e. leaks, because cracks are not mended.

† דֶּ֫לֶף n.m. a dropping (of rain, cf. WetzstZPV xiv. 1891, 5), fig. דֶּלֶף טֹרֵד מִדְיְנֵי אִשָּׁה Pr 19:13 etc.; ד׳ טוֹרֵד בְּיוֹם סַגְרִ֑יר וְאֵשֶׁת מִדְוָ֯נִים נִשְׁתָּֽוָה׃ Pr 27:15.

† II. [עָרַף] vb. drip, drop (cf. Arabic غَرَفَ lade out water with the hand (as with ladle) cf. Ph. ערפת portico (whence rain drips) v. HoffmAbh. d. GGW xxxvi. May, 1889, 12f.; cf. also غُرْفَةٌ upper-room; מערף ענן Ecclus 43:22 the dropping of a cloud, Assyrian irpu, irpitu, cloud(s));— Qal Impf. 3 mpl. שָׁמָיו יַעַרְפוּ־טָ֑ל Dt 33:28 his heavens drop dew; fig., of speech, intrans., יַעֲרֹף כַּמָּטָר לִקְחִי 32:2 let my teaching drop like the rain (‖ תִּזַּל כַּטַּל אִמְרָתִי).—Cf. רָעַף" dir="rtl" >רָעַף.
