royal delicacy, choice food
1. royal delicacy, choice food Persian loanword denoting the choice food or delicacy provided from the king's table, used exclusively in Daniel for the provisions offered to the captive youths. All multilingual glosses converge: Arabic طَعَام (food), Spanish comida/manjar (meal/delicacy), Korean 진미/음식 (delicacy/food), Hindi भोजन/रोटी (meal/bread), Swahili chakula (food). The four clusters differ only in prepositional framing (with, from, of) and pronominal suffixes (his, their), not in semantic content.
