1. mixed multitude, foreign rabble — A mixed group of people, specifically foreigners or non-Israelites mingled among the Israelites; a heterogeneous populace of mixed ethnic origin. Used of the diverse group that left Egypt with Israel (Exod 12:38, Num 11:4) and of foreign peoples intermarried with post-exilic Judah (Neh 13:3, Jer 25:20,24, Ezek 30:5).
